On July 14, 1789, the French people, sparked by empty bellies and the highly politicized half-truths spread by middle-class leaders, mobbed the plaza before City Hall armed with one major concern: the lack of bread. Their protest and Louis XVI's reaction led to the fall of the kingdom and the rise of the First Republic of France. This classic story is presented as it happened over five years. We begin outside the line 8 metro stop La Tour Maubourg by defining what constitutes a revolution. Along the way there will be family friendly guillotining, illuminating ideology, and the excessive egoism of a few renowned Frenchmen.
