A story that begins when Paris was a shallow seabed, millions of years ago, can only come together by witnessing visual cues. We meet on Pont Neuf by the statue of Henry IV and walk the ways of the Parisi, Roman, and Franks on Ile de la Cite before advancing anachronistically from the Merovingians, Carolingians and Capetians of the Middle Ages—all the while taking a look at the shifting physical makeup of the city— to Francois I, Henry IV, and onto the many Louis before signs of revolution signal the Napoleonic Empires, World’s Fairs, World Wars, and Post-war France to Present. If we make it to the 12eme for a beer, all the better.
